Game 52 Preview: Bruins @ Philadelphia WE HAVEN'T PLAYED THEM YET?

Feb 4, 2009 7:00 PM ET
TV: NESN
Radio: WBZ 1030 AM
@ Philadelphia Flyers (26-14-9)
Notes:
  • This is the first meeting with the Flyers this year. Patrice has already gotten another concussion and recovered from it. They play again on Saturday.
  • Matt Hunwick is still out with the flu.
  • Atta boy, Chiarelli!
  • Thomas vs. Biron in nets.
  • There's another ROAR event.  If you're a season ticket holder, it's a cool event because you watch it in a private room with a bunch of other folks.  I'm not sure what the outside-the-bar experience is, but I do know that draft beers are over 6$
  • NESN is the only place I have heard that "Tim Thomas is the number one goaltender for Boston." They've been saying it all season, in the face of a mountain of evidence against. Everywhere else either doesn't mention it or knows that there's a rotation. I know you probably look up to JOKESPN, NESN, but come on. You can do better than that. Adapt to the goalie tandem. And we get it, the Habs barber-pole throwbacks were ugly. You can move on any time you'd like, mentioning it further makes you sound like a high school girl.
Thorton's Vlog:

Other Previews:
  • Caveman Strong: "The Flyer's website notes that Martin Biron is "8-0-1 with a 2.00 goals-against average in his last 10 starts versus the Bruins".  Well FUCK THAT NOISE. I'm looking for the B's to continue their road tear of late (9 for their last 10) and slam some pucks into the twine behind Marty "Not that Marty" Biron."  You and me both.
  • Kynch's Korner:  "Tonight is a good chance for payback, right? Yes and no. Philly is absolutely an extremely physical team. Boston won't be able to intimidate them. But they don't have to, nor should they try to."
  • Stanley Cup of Chowder: "Tim Thomas will get the start in goal for the B's, while Martin Biron will be between the pipes for the Flyers."
  • The Bear Cave: "Philadelphia will be without rookie Luca Sbisa, who was assinged to Lethbridge of the WHL on Monday. Sbisa had seven assists in 39 games, and will likely be replaced by either Braydon Coburn or Randy Jones on Wednesday."
  • Matt Kalman: "There’s sure to be some bad blood left over from last year’s Bruins-Flyers tilts, which included injury-causing hits for the Flyers and plenty of extracurricular activities by both clubs."
  • NESN First Shift: "“It’s another game. I think you guys make it a bigger deal than it is for me. I’m just going out there and playing my game.” - Patrice Bergeron"
