Bruins V. Lightning

First home game in a while. Should be a good game. Two division leaders, one with the high-flying offense of St. Louis and Stamkos and Lecavelier and the other with more goals for per game. Owned.

However the Lightning have gone from a -6 goal differential and leading their division to an even goal differential and leading their division. They're improving ever since they got Dwayne "a real goalie" Roloson.

The winner of tonight's game is second in the conference tomorrow.

Game 73 Review: BRUINS 3 BOLTS 5 BOY THAT STAMKOS KID SURE IS GOOD

This picture is hilarious, click on it and take a close look at Recchi's face.

So the Lightning are a good young team, and even though they're probably not making the playoffs this year (then again that the Bruins are in the conversation is kind of ridiculous). That Stamkos kid sure does have a killer shot. Here's the goal-scoring race:Ovechkin, sure. Crosby, yup he's been scoring more. Stamkos? Hot damn. Kid can score. Especially last night, where the home-town fans were treated to a spectacular finnish goaltending performance. Of course it was in the wrong net, as Nittymaki stopped nearly all of the 50 shots on net. I guess it's better than no shots on net, but nobody ever said those shots were any good. The two goals were made out of getting someone next to the net and hoping for the best.

Really, though, Stamkos is way exciting and I like watching him play. At least, that's what I'm choosing out of this awful game.
Final: 3-5 bad guys.

Game 59: Bruins at Tampa Bay WHO WANTS TO BE STAMMER'S SWEETHEART?

Game 59
7:40 PM February 11, 2010
NESN, 98.5 FM
@ Tampa Bay Lighting (26-21-11)

Seen Stamkos? Yeah, goalies have been. Or maybe they haven't, and that's the problem. He's been scoring like crazy - 5th in the league with 33 goals on the season. He's scoring at 0.57 Goals/Game, 6th in the league. For comparison, Kovalchuk is at 0.58. Ovechkin is at 0.81. (Ovechkin is this year's MVP easily, by the way.) Where do those goals come from? A league-leading 14 goals come on the powerplay. Of course, he's no slouch at even strength, scoring 18 there. Hmmm...let's see, 18+14=32 goals, and he has 33. Where could that be? Why, at 8:44 of the second period of the November 11th Minnesota at Tampa Bay game, when he scored a short-handed goal.

So yeah, the kid is pretty good.

The other big story about the Lightning is that they just got bought by Boston money manager Jeff Vinik. Which means that this page is now out of date. I think they're the only team in the league that has "Owners" listed above things people care about like "Rosters" and "In the System" and such. Whatever. The Lightning still have some silly advertising options, like the "Stammer's Sweetheart" package:
Look at how excited little Stevie is to be posing with his Grandma!

Who doesn't want a romantic valentine's day hockey date punctuated by a visit from Thunderbug?

This team also advertises a "Fan Club Battle" where you can join Zanon Konopka's or Matt Smaby's fan club by....drum roll....buying a special ticket pack!

Seriously, though, sometimes I wish I didn't live in Boston or other established hockey market so the pre-game stuff amounted to more than occasionally having the same awful cover band play in one half of the player's lot.

Also their season tickets are a great deal. Basically, if you're reading this, living in Tampa, and like hockey...go to a bunch of Lightning games.

Stats!
The Lightning have a bottom-third PK.
A streak of 2 is nice. A streak of 3 would be nicer. A non-shutout regulation win would be somewhere in there too, just to prove we can. Nothing wrong with the other team getting shut out, though.

Game 76 Recap: BRUINS 3 LIGHTNING 1 HAPPY BIRTHDAY GORDIE HOWE HERE'S A GORDIE HOWE HAT TRICK

Yup, for real. A Gordie Howe Hat Trick. Do you know who got it? Hint: He's 6'9." There are two other major stories here:

  • The Bruins have 7 20-goal scorers, more than any other team in the league.
  • Manny got a convincing win. WOOHOO!
Ok let's get this party started. Vroom vroom party starter!

First Period.
When the first starts, the Lightning come out like a team with nothing to lose...because they don't really have anything more to lose. So they get chippy. Really chippy. Former Boston Bruin Brandon Bochenski takes a hooking penalty about 4 minutes in. The Bolts kill it. The Bruins are flatter than flat. They have no momentum. Luckily, Vinny Lecavelier decides it's high time to take a hooking penalty, and then all hell breaks loose. There's a big scrum by the benches, Artyukhin goes after Krejci and then Chara decides it's time to throw down. Two really big guys have themselves a fight. Hockeyfights doesn't have the video this morning, odd. Here it is, though:

That really got the party started, though it did leave Chara in the box for 7 minutes, considering he got a roughing penalty (probably to match the hooking call). Nobody likes losing Chara for 7 minutes, but the Bruins certainly came out on fire at the next faceoff. They started playing really really well. A couple minutes later, the bruins dump it in for dump and chase. McKenna passes it around the end boards, and Savard picks it up. He throws it at the net, and Wheeler is there to nudge it in between pad and post.
1-0. Blake Wheeler, 20-goal scorer. Huge start.

With a little over 2 minutes to go in the first, Lucic takes a penalty for interference. I didn't see it, but I assume it was crap. About 30 seconds later, the geniuses in black and white stripes call Aaron Ward for high-sticking. Uh oh. 5-on-3 city, population Manny Fernandez. Every single Bruins fan is doing the thing where they can't look, but are secretly peeking through their fingers. Unless you're like me and too busy holding a beer and cheering for that.

Savard, Chara, and Wideman take to the ice for the 5-on-3. Savard gets it to Chara, they play some really good defense. Manny makes a couple saves, the Bruins get it out. They end up killing 1:26 of 5-on-3, and the last 20 or so seconds of the period. The Gahden is on their feet with the kill. Huge.
Second Period.
The Bruins start off on the PK at the beginning of the second, and they start off right by winning the opening faceoff and attacking. Penalty Killed.

Of course, it doesn't take long for Artyukhin to get a high-sticking penalty, and 6.5 minutes in the Bruins go on the Power Play. They set it up and start working it down low. A quick outlet pass to Ference throws all the bolts back into the box and then ference gives it back up front. Patrice gets it. Chara sneaks in on the other side and Bergeron makes a pretty pass to his Chara's tape in the crease.
2-0. So this is how it's supposed to go when you're playing the lightning. Awesome.

As they're announcing that goal the Bruins score another one, but it's waved off due to "goaltender interference," whatever that is. Wheeler goes to the box for two.
P.K. Axelsson gets on the ice. PKed.

Richard Petiot takes a high-sticking penalty, and I believe this is the one on Recchi. Whatever. Powerplay.

Kobasew-krejci-ference-Chara. Chara shoots a big one. Kobasew tips it. Well, he puts his stick in the way and it pops up. Kobasew's stick flies out of his hands when the Big Slovak's slapper hits it. The puck chips up and over McKenna.
3-0. Yeah, this is looking pretty good. Nobody think shutout now, y'hear?

Petiot is so angry about it he fights Byron Bitz. Hockeyfights: no video. Youtube.

3 Minutes later Melichar and Lucic fight. Well, I don't even know if I could call it that. Lucic one-punches melichar, hits him once more, but melichar is down after one. Hockeyfights. Youtube. Ouch for Melichar. Also, this moment in the video:
This is where he shows mercy.
And here's my favorite expression of Lucic's:
The "Oh shit what did I just do to that guy?" look.
So huge. Same as when he put Van Ryn through the glass. He's a monster.

There's a third period, and we see stamkos score his 20th goal of the season to ruin Manny's shutout.

Game.

WIN!

I know it's against Tampa, but every win from here on out is a big win.
Here's Manny after the game:

They play that way in front of everyone, Manny.

Lots of throwing it across the crease and hoping for the best in this game. Odd.

When they announcer Patrice Bergeron as the Bruins' nominee for the Bill Masterton trophy, they made the (admittedly common) mistake of calling it the Masterson trophy. You'd think they remember how to spell it from when Kessel won it in '07.

Game 76 Preview: Bruins vs. Tampa Bay

Mar 31, 2009 7:00 PM ET
TV: NESN
Radio: WBZ 1030 AM vs.
Tampa Bay Lightning (24-35-17)
Notes:
Boston: Patrice Bergeron -- Just a year and a half ago, Patrice Bergeron was nearly paralyzed and suffered a severe concussion from a hit from behind. His determination to be back by the 2008 playoffs nearly paid off, as he amazingly would have been ready to take the ice had the Bruins reached the second round last spring.

This season, Bergeron suffered yet another concussion, but has since returned to approach the high-caliber level of play for which he was known before the injuries. His credo of respect and "playing the right way" is reflected in his style on the ice -- always hard, always physical, always clean.
  • This is a really cool graph, both for what it shows about the roster and the Bruins winning/losing streaks.
  • Kessel didn't practice this morning, will be out tonight, but should be back next week.
  • The Lightning are the league leaders in overtime losses.
  • Carey Price and Shane Doan are cousins.  So are Phil Kessel and David Moss.
  • The Islanders have almost clinched the top spot in the Tavares/Hedman lottery.
  • The Bruins signed QMJHL leading scorer Yannick Riendeu.  Good prospect signing, good pickup by Chiarelli.  He averaged 1.97 ppg this past year, but was over-age.
  • Bruins official new-media guy Bish has twitter.
  • It's the last Bru Fest, or opportunity to buy an overpriced ticket for a free beer outside the garden.  The one time I went it was bitter cold, so I bet it's a lot nicer now.
  • Krejci is getting better.
  • Lucic is talked about in the Globe and Herald.  They talk about this shift:

Previous Games:
2-1-0
The loss was during the slump, down in Florida.
Other Previews:
  • Cameron Frye: "Personally, I will be watching the game from home with a large glass of vodka filled to the tippy top."
  • Stanley Cup of Chowder: " Bruins fans can expect to see another familiar face playing for the visiting team tonight. The Lightning recalled former Bruin Brandon Bochenski from the Norfolk Admirals."  I always liked Bochenski, but he never worked out.
  • Raw Charge: Doesn't do previews, does do open threads.
  • WickedBruinsFan: "Looks like Manny Fernandez will be getting the start tonight."
  • HubHockey: "Notable tonight is that the Bruins will be seeing some familiar faces tonight on the other side of the ice in former teammates Matt Lashoff and Martins Karsums who were both involved in the deal that brought Mark Recchi to Beantown"
  • The Bear Cave: "Karsums has two points in 12 games, while Lashoff has five points in seven contests."
  • Matt Kalman: "Steven Stamkos has found his game with 19-22-41 totals and veteran forwards Vinny Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis have both reached 25 goals for the sixth straight season."
  • NESN First Shift: "While the Lightning players won’t use it as an excuse it must be noted that they have been slammed by injuries and have used 49 players." (and 2 coaches!)

Game 60 Recap: BRUINS 3 "BOLTS" 4 POINTLESS FLORIDA ROAD TRIP

"Every team has circled us. We've got to circle them back."
- Doc Rivers, Celtics Coach. (Paraphrase)

Well, there goes another one. The Bruins are 4-4-2 in their last 10. They've dropped 6 of the last 7, haven't played at home in 2 weeks, and still have the league's best road record. This is a slump. Let's go through some goals, and then move on.

"Effort is good, points count."
- Zdeno Chara, paraphrase

- Claude Julien, Coach

The game starts off on a high note: Kessel getting his first goal since he got mono:

1-0. Kessel!

Then the Lightning take over for 15 seconds about 2 minutes later.
Halpern.
1-1.
Hall.
1-2.

The Bruins remember what a power play is, and Ference-Wideman-Savard-Ference-Net.

2-2. Hey, a powerplay goal! Woohoo!

Mark Recchi scores one halfway through the second period.
2-3. Ugh.

Then with 5 minutes left in the second, the Bruins rush out of their own zone. Kobasew-Chara-Net.

3-3. Nice going there, Chara.

The 3rd period is a whole lotta back and forth, and then Kessel-Ramo-Kessel-neRAMO.

3-3. Wow, what a save.

The Bruins spend 4 of the last 5 minutes on the PK, thanks to Tampa's crap boards giving all kinds of funny bounces, including one that involves Ference passing it to Wideman, but the puck decides it will crawl up the glass and out instead.
3-4. Prospal.

Loss.

Ughh.

L10: Third ten games (8-2-0)

It's been quite the little trip here.  Phil Kessel is the NHL 1st star of the week, and Puck Daddy has a whole article on him.  The Bruins continue to show that they'll stand up for each other.
  • Game 21: Bruins 2 Habs 2 SO WIN. Roy's number is finally retired by the Habs, the Bruins come in and win right in front of all of those fans. Blake Wheeler gets the only goal in the shootout, and gets a No Habs No letter from Sens Army Blog.
  • Game 22: Bruins 2 BUF 3 Loss.  In the 18 Buffalo-Boston games, the home team has won.  This one was played in Buffalo.  Derek Roy shot one in off a Bruins stick. Despite trying to get it going in the third, they just couldn't put it in.
  • Game 23: Bruins 7 NYI 2 WIN. Black Friday in the new Third Jerseys brought a blowout against the league-basement Islanders.  The 7th goal in this game was super-pretty.
  • Game 24: Bruins 4 DET 1 WIN. Detroit comes to Boston to try to pick up a win.  Luckily, the Bruins aren't scared of the reigning stanley cup champs.  After 12 minutes without a shot, Blake Wheeler buries it behind Osgood on the first shot of the game.  They go on to win.
  • Game 25: Bruins 3 TBL 1 WIN.  Lecavelier-to-Martin St. Louis starts the scoring about a minute in, but Thomas starts taking the game seriously and the Bruins come back to win, 3-1 with an empty netter.
  • Game 26: Bruins 4 FLA 0 WIN. Manny Fernandez pitches a shutout.  The Florida Coach after the game: "We could have been out there for three days and still not scored."
  • Game 27: Bruins 5 TBL 3 WIN. This was the game that the Bruins got up 3-0 in the first 10 minutes, then stopped playing altogether.  P.J. Axelsson's Empty netter made this score look less scary than it was to watch.
  • Game 28: Bruins 1 WAS 3 Loss. Proving that the Bruins can't win them all, Washington continues a home winning streak against the Bruins.  Ovechkin got the empty-netter.  It was a pretty hard-fought game.  I can't wait until Washington comes to Boston.
  • Game 29: Bruins 7 ATL 3 WIN. 14 Players have points in this mega team effort.  4 fights make this quite the game as the first of the home-and-home series.
  • Game 30: Bruins 4 ATL 2 WIN. The Bruins pick up where they left off in Atlanta, and 6'7" Thrashers defenseman Valabik has to answer to Chara after picking on Kessel.  Valabik is star-struck and throws no punches.  How do you fight your idol?  Chara doesn't even knock him down.  Sort of a sad fight, in a way.  That said, back off of Kessel or one of our bruisers will Crush you.  By Bruisers, I mean Lucic, Chara, Thornton, or Savard.  Savard?  Yeah, check his PIMs for the season.
Stats/On-Pace Projections:

Best goal of the last 10 games:
Maybe this one's just fresh in my mind, but Michael Ryder's second goal against atlanta on Saturday was pretty dominant:

It was his 10th of the season.

Game 27 Recap: BRUINS 5 LIGHTNING 3 IT'S HARD TO TAUNT MIKE SMITH

Howdy, folks. Not a bad game last night, except for one thing:

If the bruins have the choice of playing the first 10 minutes and not the rest of the game or not the first 10 minutes and then the rest of the game, I think I'd favor the latter (see: Game vs. Detroit).

Whatever, a win is a win. Let's get recapping.

First Period. This one made me smile.

The lightning like to take penalties. The Bruins had the 4th best PP in the league going into this game. Here's why. Hunwick keeps it in at the blue line, gives it to kessel. Kessel gives it over to wideman, who's pinching in. Wideman puts a bow on it for Lucic. Lucic whole field of vision is net. GOAL.

1-0. I'll take it!

The next thing to happen that matters is all Kessel. Kessel kessels the kessel all the kessel kessel kessel kessel. Seriously, though. Skates it from the Bruins zone all the way in, tries to get that Lucic-on-the-doorstep assist. Paul Ranger has other ideas, deflects it behind Mike Smith. GOAL.

2-0. You're thinking Mike Smith is either going to get pulled or prove himself.

Ryder comes down, they pass it around a bunch. Ryder gets it back at the dot. What confidence. Just puts it exactly where it needs to go - the back of the net.

3-0.

Tampa Bay calls a time out. You ask what the over/under is on seeing Olie the Goalie play. Smith skates over to the bench, but no dice. Uh oh. It might be statement time for him, and he does manage to stop the rest of the pucks in the period. Shots in 1st: 10-4

Artyuuukndin gives it to hall, everybody runs over Thomas. Goal by Tampa.
3-1. People are booing.

Luckily, Tampa Bay gives up a 5-on-3 at the end of the second. Bruins move it around, Chara to Krejci. Back up to Chara, one-timer. The puck moves faster than light. GOAL.

4-1. You're thinking the last goal's gonna have EN written all over it. Why are you worried about Tampa Bay? You're not sure, but you'd bet on it. HAR HAR TOCCHET

Lecavelier and St. Louis come in and do their thing. St. Louis and Lecavelier scored 2 of the last 3 goals against Boston.
4-2. See above.

Mike Smith is pulled, chipchurra jams it in on Thomas with 18 seconds left.
4-3. 18 seconds left.

Mike Smith skates to the bench while the puck is in his zone. Uh oh, he forgot Patrice is a forechecker. Patrice gets it, gives it to P.J. at the point. GOAL.

5-3. The guy next to you mentions that when we first got Axelsson in 300 B.C., he hated him. Nobody hates him now.

Game.

WIN!

Game 27 Preview: Tampa Bay @ Bruins

Nov 8, 2008 7:00 PM ET
On TV: NESN
On Radio: WBZ
vs. Tampa Bay Lightning (6-12-8)
Notes:
  • The Bruins just played Tampa Bay on Thursday. Recap Here.
  • Thomas in net.
  • The Bruins are running a toy drive with Toys for Tots on December 8, 13, 18, 20.  If you donate a toy, you get a ticket voucher for an under-12 kid.
  • The Bruins have gotten their PK all the way up to 83%, ranked 11th in the league. The PP is 4th, with 23.08.
  • The Lightning were the last team to score against the Bruins, when Lecavalier fed Martin St. Louis a beautiful pass and St. Louis put it in.
  • Steve "New Face of the Franchise after Vinny Retires" Stamkos has been getting better after his slow start.
  • Phil Kessel is tied for 3rd in goals scored. Marc Savard is tied for 3rd in assists. Savard has 0.92 assists/game. Blake Wheeler and Marc Savard are in the league's top 5 for Plus/Minus, even though it's a relatively bogus stat.
  • The New York Rangers have 8 Shorthanded goals against, leading the league. This makes me smile.
  • The Bruins have twice as many points as Tampa Bay, 26 games in for both.
  • Boychuk got sent down a while ago.
  • Eric McErlain has a nice piece on the Bruins post-Thornton.
  • Sturm and Ward skated this morning, but not fully.  They're out tonight, but expected to be in Washington on wednesday.  The Bruins have been doing really well without these two recently, but having Ward to help bottle up Ovechkin would be pretty huge.
  • Cam Neely likes how the team is doing.
  • Congrats to Naoko Funayama on getting married, and SA Goon Unmasked Gremlin for having a baby.
  • Here are some pre-game interviews.  I don't have time to watch them, so there may be something good in there that I don't know about.

  • Double A Hockey: "I'm not sure who will be in goal, but either way I'm not worried."
  • The Bear Cave: "Their 20 points are fewest in the NHL"
  • The 2 Man Advantage: "Boston is just too strong right now hopefully they don't take their foot off the gas."  I hear you, Nemmy.

Game 25 Recap: BRUINS 3 LIGHTNING 1

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I totally couldn't see this game.  Looks like the B's managed to pull out a win anyhow.  Let's get to the recap:

1 minute into the game, Axelsson gives up the puck in the neutral zone to Ryan Malone, who gets it ahead to Vinny "Lifetime Contract" Lecavelielier.  Vinny puts it across to Martin St. Louis, who one-times it past Thomas.
0-1.  Thomas realizes that even though he's playing Tampa Bay, they've still got amazing goal-scoring capability.

Mike Smith and Tim Thomas play well for the rest of the first, and the first half of the second.  Then, 12 minutes in, there's a faceoff in the offensive zone.  The Tampa Bay TV Network is interviewing...someone. The lightning get it, but bring it behind their goalie to try to move it out.  But Lucic knows how to forecheck.  He gets it on the side, puts it to Savard in the corner.  Kessel is moving toward the net.  The interview guys says that the lighting are "playing good" (sic).  You've seen this one before.  This time, the flavor is a one-timer five-hole.

1-1. Kessel's 14th goal of the season, Savard's 1,000,000th career assist.

The game stays tied until Shane Hnidy takes a penalty for holding.  It's the 4th and last penalty called all game.  Short-handed, Blake Wheeler makes the blue-line interception between d-men.  Krejci goes up, gets the pass.  Krejci dances the puck through a TBL defenseman, and it's just him and the goalie.  Mike Smith is good, but gets all confused about Krejci's name spelling.  Krejci puts it past his right pad on the ground.

2-1.  Short-handed goal for Krejci.  What a play by Wheeler.

11 more minutes of game go by, and Mike Smith is pulled.  With 10 seconds left, Thomas blocks a shot, Hunwick chips it out of the Bruins corner and to Savard at the B's blue-line.  He skates it up into the offensive zone and passes to (Wait.  Guess.)  Kessel.  Kessel kessels the puck.

3-1. 0:01 left.

Game.

Matt Foy Signs with Blues

Ah, Matt Foy. I knew ye well, ever since that time when I watched you in your first NHL game with the Wild, where you scored twice and then were so excited you ran right into some guy, got a penalty, and then were sat for the rest of the game. I remember it well, watching on the Center Ice free preview at my parent's house a couple years ago. Good times. I wonder if he'll be playing with the big club, or in the AHL still. In fact, I wonder what the blues' minor league team is. Huh...oh well.

Foy, I know the fine folks on the wild.com message board didn't like you much. Oh well. That one game was a hell of a time. Have fun with the...whatever they are.

In similar news, former Bruin Brandon Bochenski got picked up by the Lightning earlier this month. I remember going to a game and seeing him bring the hustle, all game long. Rookies are exciting like that, I guess. Then it turns out they're not that great, but there's a whole new crop of them, trying to push the slightly older guys out.

Big Moves....but not in Boston or Minnesota

Well, the first day of free agency is over and there have been some interesting signings. Once again, fans of Boston and Minnesota have to sit idly by while the big-name free agents disappear off to other teams - and later score on us. Rolston is back in Jersey, Brunette is back in Minnesota, Metropolit is a Phlyer (that's a mistake on our part - I've liked Metro, he always plays hard)

Oh, and Michael Ryder is now a Bruin. You should see him up and to the right, trying to score on a wraparound against Thomas. Searching youtube for clips, here's something I found:

Anything that makes a Canadiens fan cry is ok by me.

Hopefully, he won't have another season like last year's, but one more in line with his first three seasons. Maybe playing for his old coach, his old coach, and his old coach (that would be Claude Julien, who coached him in Montreal, Hamilton (AHL), and Hull (QMJHL, or "the Q")) will return him to scoring form. The Glen Murray buyout apparently may happen after Denis Wideman's salary arbitration. I'm still hoping.

Personally, I think the best move this offseason for the Bruins will be a getting Patrice Bergeron back. I hope he hasn't lost his touch.

As for Minnesota, they've got cap space, they lost Rolston, and they don't have four full lines of NHL forwards. Hossa, anyone? Demitra hasn't signed anywhere yet.

Mirtle has a list of who you should get your hopes up for just to get them dashed away when some other team nabs them. Speaking of those teams, ThePensBlog has a list of who still has to spend money to get up to the $40 million cap floor. I was going to quote them directly, but instead here's a quick rundown on what they had to say, since the numbers are about halfway down their post:

- Atlanta needs to spend 11 million, but they have Lehtonen to sign.
- Colorado needs to spend 3 million, with RFAs still to sign.
- Columbus needs to spend 9 million, but they have R.J. Umberger to sign
- LA needs to spend 11 million.
- NYIslanders need to spend 3 million.

And lastly, the Blackhawks are over the cap limit right now, which is fitting, since they have a dirty team right now. They picked up Brian Campbell for over 8 million/year, as well as Cristobal Huet for 5.something million/year. They still have Khabibulin, who is costing them 7 million/year. Cristobal Huet is not a backup goalie, so maybe we'll be seeing the 'Bulin Wall in LA, Columbus, or the ATL.

Tampa Bay was making a ton of splashy trades and signings prior to July 1st, so they're looking pretty alright too, but we still don't know if Melrose can coach. If he can, it could be a good year for them. If not, then Koules and Barrie are shown to be bad owners, but for the meantime y'all should enjoy the ride.

The Oilers are looking pretty good too...let's see who makes it into the playoffs from the logjam that is the Northwest conference.

Current Bruins 08-09 optimism meter: We'll make the playoffs.
